Our guide for the Butterfly Garden, Fabian, was so great. He was extremely knowledgeable about butterflies, the various species, and host plants that are all native to the area. We learned a lot, and he was really fun to chat with during and after the tour. Bonus: we were impressed by the selection of natural, healthy snacks 🙂 It’s worth mentioning that the Mariposario team was really helpful in setting up transportation to and from the sites. I had my celluar data off in the days leading up to the tour, so I didn’t get the messages until the day-of but they were super responsive when I called, and they helped to arrange everything very quickly. Very helpful, given we were coming from Punta de Mita. Overall, I highly recommend visiting (and supporting) the Jardín Mágico: we loved seeing what they’re doing to preserve the local ecosystem, and educate kids and the broader community in PV. So cool, and so very, very important.

I have been traveling to PV for the past 13 years and this was truly one of the... read more best experiences I have had there. It's a short drive out of the center of town but absolutely worth it. Me, my wife and our 10 year old son learned so much from Fabian. He was very kind, he answered any questions we had and truly made us feel welcome in the space that he and Chris have created. The two of them were so nice that we didn't want to leave. We literally could have spent the day their chatting with them. However, we left with a wealth of new knowledge. Even now several weeks since our visit the Mariposario comes up in conversation frequently. I highly recommend a trip there to anyone who is visiting Puerto Vallarta. It should be a part of one's journey. Job Well Done Gentlemen! We will surely return upon our next visit later this year.

  This excursion was something 3 people in my party participated in. It was NOT wheelchair friendly at all and we had to take a taxi which ended up costing more... read more than the actual exhibit because it was far away from our hotel on the Malacon and the taxi driver had to wait for us an hour to give us a ride back or we would have been stuck out in the middle of the jungle. It was fun and thankfully I had a few big guys who made this experience possible for me in a manual wheelchair but I would not recommend it for anyone with mobility issues. The tour guide was awesome and the releasing of the butterflies at the end was really cool. Then I had to pee and that was a whole new problem trying to get to the bathrooms that were far away and not accessible at all. I should have done a lot more research on the accessibility but I just wanted to experience the pretty butterflies!
