Krys was very knowledgeable and passionate about the facility and tour which made it very enjoyable for us and our 9 month old son. The sanctuary is a fascinating... read more place and would love to come back and do the cocoa tour with him. Krys was also generous, making sure we stayed hydrated and offered us snacks as well as hired a driver for us because I had limited cell service to call an Uber myself. Thank you for a great time!!!

The tour was amazing and my sister and... read more I learned so much. It's a small business and it's amazing to support and to see how it has thrived and how the butterflies have acclimated. Its a shot in the dark sometimes that comes out best. Don't worry about the drive out, just negotiate price. You'll drive up a dirt road to a... read more semi closed gate and then walk in. So far, so weird... then you'll walk around the dog boarding, next to a larg pond and go to a building with an entrance and exit on the same side. At that point you'll get to see butterflies! And learn all about their habits, find eggs and caterpillars, and then release one into the area. It was a better informative trip than many that I've been on, and although a little out of the way, I would tell people to go!

This excursion was something 3 people in my party participated in. It was NOT wheelchair friendly at all and we had to take a taxi which ended up costing more... read more than the actual exhibit because it was far away from our hotel on the Malacon and the taxi driver had to wait for us an hour to give us a ride back or we would have been stuck out in the middle of the jungle. It was fun and thankfully I had a few big guys who made this experience possible for me in a manual wheelchair but I would not recommend it for anyone with mobility issues. The tour guide was awesome and the releasing of the butterflies at the end was really cool. Then I had to pee and that was a whole new problem trying to get to the bathrooms that were far away and not accessible at all. I should have done a lot more research on the accessibility but I just wanted to experience the pretty butterflies!

The sanctuary was a wonderful experience. Close up observation of many unique species and the guide was worth it. He explained life cycle and local species as well... read more as pointing out where to spot the camouflaged ones hiding amongst the foliage. Holding and releasing the newly hatched butterflies was a profound experience too. This sanctuary deserves our support 💜
