very informative, we learned a lot! A huge variety of species to see in various stages... our guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate.
May 1, 2022This excursion was something 3 people in my party participated in. It was NOT wheelchair friendly at all and we had to take a taxi which ended up costing more... read more than the actual exhibit because it was far away from our hotel on the Malacon and the taxi driver had to wait for us an hour to give us a ride back or we would have been stuck out in the middle of the jungle. It was fun and thankfully I had a few big guys who made this experience possible for me in a manual wheelchair but I would not recommend it for anyone with mobility issues. The tour guide was awesome and the releasing of the butterflies at the end was really cool. Then I had to pee and that was a whole new problem trying to get to the bathrooms that were far away and not accessible at all. I should have done a lot more research on the accessibility but I just wanted to experience the pretty butterflies!
February 1, 2022I took a taxi from Zona Romantica, and arrived there, the taxi waited for me until I was finished. It was 270 pesos to enter and have the tour, well... read more worth it, and I received wonderful explanations by Fabian, who is very passionate and knowledgeable! I had tears in my eyes to see some of the butterflies (so incredibly beautiful) but also the care put into this place, the growing of the special plants needed by the butterflies, which differs for each butterfly. He showed me the eggs and the caterpillars on the plants and all the challenges they face to become butterflies. At the end I was given the opportunity to release a new born butterfly into the garden, which was quite wonderful. It was a great joy to have experienced this and Fabian was great, he really cares, and so should we all. There are building condo's right next to this area, and destroying habitat....this place is a real garden of Eden...worth a visit for sure!

The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about not just butterflies but a lot of the nature in Puerto Vallarta. My children and I learned so much and had a wonderful... read more time! The land that the butterfly sanctuary is on is sacred and beautiful. We highly enjoyed our time there and look forward to visiting again.
December 1, 2021My partner and I booked a tour on our honeymoon and it did not disappoint! We enjoyed the tour at Planeta Cacao, and loved the hands-on activity of making our... read more own cocoa paste. Yum! Our guide for the Butterfly Garden, Fabian, was so great. He was extremely knowledgeable about butterflies, the various species, and host plants that are all native to the area. We learned a lot, and he was really fun to chat with during and after the tour. Bonus: we were impressed by the selection of natural, healthy snacks 🙂 It’s worth mentioning that the Mariposario team was really helpful in setting up transportation to and from the sites. I had my celluar data off in the days leading up to the tour, so I didn’t get the messages until the day-of but they were super responsive when I called, and they helped to arrange everything very quickly. Very helpful, given we were coming from Punta de Mita. Overall, I highly recommend visiting (and supporting) the Jardín Mágico: we loved seeing what they’re doing to preserve the local ecosystem, and educate kids and the broader community in PV. So cool, and so very, very important.
