Its a shot in the dark sometimes that comes out best. Don't worry about the drive out, just negotiate price. You'll drive up a dirt road to a... read more semi closed gate and then walk in. So far, so weird... then you'll walk around the dog boarding, next to a larg pond and go to a building with an entrance and exit on the same side. At that point you'll get to see butterflies! And learn all about their habits, find eggs and caterpillars, and then release one into the area. It was a better informative trip than many that I've been on, and although a little out of the way, I would tell people to go!

I took a taxi from Zona Romantica, and arrived there, the taxi waited for me until I was finished. It was 270 pesos to enter and have the tour, well... read more worth it, and I received wonderful explanations by Fabian, who is very passionate and knowledgeable! I had tears in my eyes to see some of the butterflies (so incredibly beautiful) but also the care put into this place, the growing of the special plants needed by the butterflies, which differs for each butterfly. He showed me the eggs and the caterpillars on the plants and all the challenges they face to become butterflies. At the end I was given the opportunity to release a new born butterfly into the garden, which was quite wonderful. It was a great joy to have experienced this and Fabian was great, he really cares, and so should we all. There are building condo's right next to this area, and destroying habitat....this place is a real garden of Eden...worth a visit for sure!
