Butterflies are among the most fascinating and ecologically important insects on Earth. Beyond their remarkable beauty, they are essential pollinators and valuable bioindicators of environmental health, reflecting the balance between native plants, wildlife, and healthy ecosystems.
The Banderas Bay region is home to an extraordinary diversity of Lepidoptera, with approximately 190 recorded butterfly species, making it one of western Mexico’s most valuable areas for butterfly conservation and biodiversity.
Our Conservation Commitment
At Mariposario Jardín Mágico, we are dedicated to the responsible conservation, breeding, and management of native butterfly species while promoting environmental education and scientific understanding.
We currently hold authorization from SEMARNAT (Permit No. 14/LS-0072/11/25, updated April 16, 2026) to manage and breed 41 native butterfly species for conservation, research, and educational purposes.
Every butterfly raised within our sanctuary contributes to our mission of protecting biodiversity while inspiring visitors to appreciate and care for the natural world.
